An Amarillo man has died after he was struck by a car on Olsen Boulevard early Wednesday evening.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Olsen Blvd. shortly before 6:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Amarillo resident Robert Wayne, 74, with critical injuries.
Police said that Wayne was crossing the street when he was struck by a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria driven by a 23-year-old Amarillo man.
Wayne was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. All four people in the car, along with the driver, were not hurt.
An autopsy has been ordered on Wayne’s body. The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
