A suspected drunken driver was arrested Tuesday night after a series of collisions that involved two cars and a home.
The incident started about 10 p.m., when the driver of a Ford F-150 was involved in a hit-and-run accident with another vehicle near the intersection of Southwest 34th Avenue and South Georgia Street.
The F-150 driver then fled with a witness following behind. According to the witness, the man then drove into the brick wall of a home at 1001 Pikes Peak and then once again drove away.
The driver later collided with a parked Pontiac G5 in the 5300 block of Allen Street before coming to a stop in front of a nearby home. Police arrived and took the driver into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
“I was in my room getting ready for bed and all I heard was a boom,” said Paul Bridgwater, 35, who lives at 5302 Allen St.
Bridgwater said he went outside to discover that his daughter’s car had been struck.
Bridgewater also said the driver lives at a nearby home on the street.
The victim of the initial hit-and-run incident was transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons, police said.
Officials with the Amarillo Fire Department estimated the cost of damage to the Pikes Peak home at $300 to $400.
