Area Woman, Amy Hubbard, Dies In Fatal Wreck

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, TX (KFDA) – The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a one-vehicle crash Friday in Armstrong County, resulting in the death of one person. The crashed vehicle was called in at approximately 9:25 a.m. by a passing motorist who observed the vehicle from a rest stop.

Amy Hubbard, 43, of Silverton, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe north on SH-207 approximately 22 miles south of Claude. Hubbard failed to negotiate a curve, crashed through the guardrail on the east side of the roadway and plummeted approximately 340 feet to the bottom of a canyon where she was ejected and died.

Hubbard was pronounced dead on scene by Armstrong County, Justice of the Peace, Dianne Samaniego. Hubbard was not wearing her seat-belt and speed is a suspected factor.

The exact time of the crash is unknown.

The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
