One person is dead following a Saturday afternoon crash in Randall County, just west of Umbarger on Highway 60.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said 29-year-old Rogelio Rangel of Dumas was driving a semi-truck westbound about one mile west of Umbarger.
The DPS said 24-year-old Christopher Vandenberg of Sioux Center, Iowa was also driving a semi-truck eastbound and crossed over the center median, colliding into the truck driven by Rangel.
Vandenberg was pronounced dead on scene, according to authorities, by Randall County Justice of the Peace Jerry Bigham.
The Randall County Sheriff’s Office said the jaws of life were used to remove Vandenburg from the truck.
It’s unknown why Vandenberg crossed the median and the crash is still under investigation.
Highway 60 is open following the crash.
Authorities said multiple cows being transported by the truck are also dead due to the incident.
